Great News....Mmmmm Maybe Not
In 2007, 2 weeks after we found out I was pregnant, my husband was hired as a Lineman's Apprentice. He was now going to be making enough for me to be able to stay home with our daughter after she was born. Life was great!!
It didn't last. This November his hours were cut. Then he lost a lot of work due to weather Nov. and Dec. His paychecks were very small. Then he was laid off at the start of the year. Things were very tight and we quickly started falling behind. Luckily through his union he was hired onto another company at the end of January. He has been working long hours with lots of overtime so we are getting caught up. Things were looking up. I saw "were" because tonight he told me that when they reach the deadline on this job (in 2 weeks..maybe sooner) it is pretty certain that he will be laid off again.
So panic mode has once again set in. My goal is to get every bill caught up and start putting every spare dime into savings for future bills. Our tax refund will not be used to pay off our last credit card. It will now be banked to make sure we have money to pay the mortgage and keep power and water on. At least since we will have it we won't fall behind so easily this time.
He was told that things should pick up again in April. Hopefully he will only be laid off for 4 weeks again.
Please keep your fingers crossed for us and any advice is more than welcome!!

Don't panic. Be thankful that he can get unemployment because that will help you through. And he'll still have insurance. You have much to be thankful for, it helps to remember that.
